about

Of course I'm gonna write a song about a mall. I'm from Long Island. Rob Throb looked at the lyric before I put it to music (I wrote it in a class we had together) and said it was the stupidest thing he'd ever read.

The piano pattern that opens the song was written by Sean. He's also responsible for most of the riffs, and the guitar solo is by far one of his best.

Skyscape started playing "Mall" before Dom left the band. He and I would sing it together, trading off every other syllable, even finishing each other's words. We practiced this for an entire three-hour drive from Albany to Farmingdale, at one point getting so into it we almost ran off the road!

lyrics

Going to the mall
Gonna buy some stuff
Gonna stare at 14-year-old girls

Going to the mall
Everybody's there
It's big and bright, new and improved

Got to do some Christmas shopping
There's a birthday coming up
Mother's Day's right around the corner
Oh, shit, mom's here too.

Window grazing, room to roam
Yeah, going to the mall beats going home
Window grazing, room to roam
Yeah, going to the mall beats going home
Feel the power, it's power shopping
It's quality time with our friend, the mall.

Fat JAP Gap chicks
On parade
Look out, stampede at J.C. Penney, baby

Red tags flying
One-day sale
And I think I need one of those

I think I need one of those
And I think I need one of those
And I think I need one of those
And I think I need one of those

Window grazing, room to roam
Yeah, going to the mall is going home
Window grazing, room to roam
Yeah, going to the mall is going home
And I think I need one of those
And I think I need one of those
And I think I need one of those
And I think I need one of those.
